'Peppa Pig bil-Malti' will be the first production to incorporate three languages in Malta, a government statement has read.

These will be the Maltese language, with English subtitles and the inclusion of sign language, the Executive Producer of 'Peppa Pig bil-Malti' Christian Gravina said.

The Ministry for Inclusion said that episodes of the children's programme 'Peppa Pig bil-Malti' have begun to be adapted to sign language for children with hearing impairment. It said that through the ministry's financial support to Media Exclusive Limited, as of yesterday, 'Peppa Pig bil-Malti' was broadcast with the inclusive adaptations.

The Ministry said that the cartoon is aimed at children aged between 1 to 7 years and consists of 52 episodes that are being aired on TVM. It said that the production has the aim of promoting entertainment and education amongst Maltese children whist raising awareness on inclusion in the media.

Minister for Inclusion Julia Farrugia said that these episodes implement and build on the national strategy for persons with disability since children with disability too have the right to inclusive broadcasts. "The fact that we have episodes with sign language and subtitles shows the government's commitment to create a more equitable society that includes everyone," she said.
