PM Abela must condemn acts of intimidation and harassment against Jason Azzopardi - PN

Tuesday, 4 February 2025, 19:53 Last update: about 8 days ago

The PN has strongly condemned the "harassment and intimidation that Lawyer Jason Azzopardi is being subjected to by individuals close to the Labour Government, including Karl Stagno Navarra."

Over the past days, Stagno Navarra has made a number of Facebook posts  about a decision to remove the reserved parking space outside of Azzopardi's home, which had previously been granted to Azzopardi as a security measure. In one video, the former ONE journalist approached Azzopardi when he was parking, and asked him how he felt about the parking privilege being removed. "Do you still feel arrogant?" Stango Navarra asked Azzopardi. Azzopardi replied with a "yes" and crossed the road.

In a statement, the PN called on Prime Minister Robert Abela to stop and condemne actions of intimidations against Azzopardi.

"This act of aggression, which includes physical harassment and deliberate confrontations, is a direct result of the coordinated campaign of attacks carried out by Prime Minister Robert Abela and his clique. The direct aggression against Lawyer Azzopardi is not an isolated case. The culture of hatred that Robert Abela has fostered against those who disagree with him is leading to targeted attacks, endangering the safety of civilians and threatening democracy in our country. The harassment exposed in this latest case is part of a clear strategy of intimidation that has existed under this Government."

The PN said it strongly condemns "the intimidation by Karl Stagno Navarra and other figures close to the Government, who are acting with blatant impunity. Prime Minister Robert Abela has a duty to publicly condemn the harassment being carried out by Labour activists. Furthermore, the Police Commissioner must take immediate action and ensure that Jason Azzopardi is given all necessary protection against these coordinated attacks."

"The Prime Minister must put an end to this politics of vengeance and acknowledge that he is responsible for the climate of hatred he has created in our country. The PN will continue to defend those targeted by this political persecution and will not hesitate to stand up to the regime of fear that Robert Abela is trying to strengthen."
