A renovation project was completed in the Government Healthcare Laundry with an investment of around €1 million, the Ministry for Health and Active Ageing stated.
The Ministry said that Minister Jo Etienne Abela visited the KOLS Cooperative where the renovation project was completed. It stated that during the visit, it was explained how improvements have been made in the operation of the cooperative thanks to the investment. It continued that the standards of the European Union are being maintained, such as that of 'Risk Assessment and Bacteriological Control', as well as EU regulations governing healthcare laundries.
Minister Abela spoke of the importance of the work of the cooperative, as he said that the cooperative takes care of the laundry of all government hospitals and clinics in Malta. He continued that through this project and investment in modern a machinery, there is a more efficient service while also reducing the carbon footprint of the operation as it is now more energy efficient.
The Minister concluded that the cooperative has continued to improve the quality of its service over the years while increasing efficiency and reducing costs. He added that the government is committed to continuing implementing such projects that lead to a more efficient and quality service.
