Parliamentary Secretary Keith Azzopardi Tanti and Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli addressed a workshop entitled "Horizon Europe Missions: Empowering Local Communities" that was held by Xjenza Malta at Kalkara.

The activity, aimed for local councils, gave an overview of the European Union opportunities available to local councils related to health, climate, cities, environment and society.

These opportunities are aimed to provide innovate solutions to reach long-term solutions drawn up by the European Union with regard to climate change, cancer research and sustainable oceans. Councils can apply for 100% of the funds needed for their projects.

Horizon Europe has a budget of more than €93 billion - a scheme which started in 2021 and finishes in 2027. Xjenza Malta is the national contact point for Horizon Europe, and offers assistance to councils willing to apply for such funding.
