Maltese composer Albert Pace is set to take centre stage in an upcoming concert featuring the world-renowned harpist Florence Sitruk. On 28 February at 7:30pm, the historic Carmelite Church in Mdina will host Suites Across the Centuries, a recital showcasing the evolution of the suite as a musical form. While the program includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Benjamin Britten, as well as by the French harp virtuoso Carlos Salzedo, it is the first complete performance of Pace's harp suite that promises to be a landmark moment for contemporary Maltese composition.

Albert Pace has long been recognized as an innovative force in the local music scene, blending tradition with modernity to create works of striking depth. His suite for solo harp, which will be performed by Sitruk, reflects his unique approach to composition-combining intricate harmonies, evocative melodies, and a profound understanding of the harp's expressive capabilities. The inclusion of his piece alongside two of history's greatest composers is a testament to Pace's growing influence and the relevance of Maltese classical music on the international stage.

Florence Sitruk, celebrated for her refined technique and interpretative mastery, is the ideal artist to bring Pace's composition to life. Known for championing contemporary works alongside the established repertoire, she will illuminate the nuances of Pace's suite, offering audiences a chance to experience the composer's vision in a deeply immersive setting. The Carmelite Church, with its superb acoustics and intimate atmosphere, will further enhance the performance, making it a truly unmissable occasion.

This concert not only highlights the beauty of the harp but also underscores the vibrancy of Malta's musical heritage. By positioning Pace's work within a program that spans different historical periods, Suites Across the Centuries bridges the past and the present, demonstrating the continuous evolution of classical music. The event serves as a powerful reminder of the artistic talent flourishing within Malta and its ability to engage with global audiences.

On the next day, Florence Sitruk will extend her stay to lead a chamber music masterclass at the St Augustine Priory in Valletta, open to musicians of all instruments. This workshop provides an invaluable opportunity for Maltese musicians to engage with a world-class performer and pedagogue, refine their ensemble playing skills, and explore the intricacies of chamber music interpretation in a collaborative setting.
