This year the Salesians are marking the l50th anniversary since Don Bosco sent his first Salesian missionaries to Patagonia in Argentina. Today, the Salesians are found in 136 countries and are one of the largest networks in the world working for the benefit of young people in need.
To mark this historic event, the Salesians have launched a Lenten campaign to support the plight of street children in Africa.
During the Ash Wednesday liturgy at Savio College, Fr Robert Falzon, Delegate for Missionary Animation in Malta, officially launched the campaign. While speaking to the students and staff, Fr Robert emphasised the value of charity and generosity towards others for our spiritual well-being. He encouraged them that as they make some sacrifice during Lent, they think of the difference that their little contribution can make for some child in Africa.
The Salesians of Don Bosco are well established in Malta and are renowned for their work amongst young people in the field of education, recreational activities and youth and social work. They are also accepting donations to sponsor children on the missions. Contact [email protected] for further information.
