In Vittoriosa, the Public Works Department is implementing three important projects for the residents of Birgu. These projects are, the regeneration and beautification of an area in Triq San Lawrenz; the planning of infrastructure works to commence in Triq Wenzu Dyer, Triq il-Lvant, and Triq Melchiorre Gafa; and the completion of the construction of the Regatta Club House.

These three highly anticipated projects, with an investment of over one million euros, will provide a better quality of life, not only for the residents living in these areas, but also top-level facilities for the volunteers of the Regatta Club, and they will also be enjoyed by the entire Vittoriosa community.

In Triq San Lawrenz, the work on the regeneration and beautification of a space where residents can relax together is currently in its final phase. Works included, among others, replacing the surrounding wall, adding a new ramp for accessibility for persons with disabilities, a new concrete pavement, and the creation of four additional parking spaces.

The Regatta Club House project, which involved significant works, is currently in its final phase. The Public Works has undertaken construction works for a new floor on the existing level, installation of a lift to make the building more accessible, installation of new apertures, changes to existing doors, as well as electrical, plumbing, and finishing works, among others.

These two projects are expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

Recently, the Public Works Department, in collaboration with the Water Services Corporation and the Local Council of Birgu, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to carry out crucial infrastructure works on three major roads in Birgu-Triq Wenzu Dyer, Triq il-Lvant, and Triq Melchiorre Gafa.

In light of this unprecedented investment, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia remarked that these projects are the result of ongoing and active dialogue that Public Works maintains with Local Councils and voluntary organizations in the heart of our localities.

"To make a difference in people's lives, we need to listen and understand, so that we can subsequently act and deliver projects that enhance the quality of life in our communities and provide the necessary tools for organizations to cherish and protect our heritage," concluded the Parliamentary Secretary.

Vittoriosa Mayor John Boxall thanked the Public Works Department for undertaking important projects for the locality of Birgu that have long been anticipated by all residents.
