The Vatican has started to review documents related to the canonisation process for Maltese couple Henry and Inez Casolani, their daughter said in a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anglu Farrugia, on Wednesday.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anġlu Farrugia, met today with Sr. Cecilia Casolani, the couple's daughter. The meeting focused on the ongoing efforts towards the canonization of Henry and Inez Casolani, who are currently being considered for sainthood by the Vatican.
The Speaker was informed that the Vatican has recently opened the boxes containing detailed documents compiled by the Diocese of Malta. This event, known as the Opening of the Roman Phase, marks an important milestone in the canonization journey of the Casolanis. The Vatican has now begun the careful review of the evidence, which will guide the next steps in the potential recognition of Henry and Inez as saints.
The meeting was also attended by Stephanie Quintano, the president of the Casolanis' canonization process, and Anton Quintano, the author of the book Henry u Inez Casolani - Koppja magħġuna fi Kristu. The book, which provides an in-depth look into the lives and faith of the Casolani couple, was presented to Speaker Anġlu Farrugia, along with several copies for distribution to Members of Parliament. The presentation was a gesture to help further educate and raise awareness about the remarkable lives of Henry and Inez Casolani and their enduring impact on the Maltese community.
Speaking about the meeting, Speaker Farrugia expressed his deep appreciation for the dedication of those involved in the canonization process and reiterated his support for the cause. "It is a profound honour to be part of this moment in history, as we take another step closer to the recognition of Henry and Inez Casolani as saints. Their lives of devotion, love, and faith continue to inspire many, and I am proud to support this process alongside Sr. Cecilia Casolani and all those working towards their canonization."
Sr. Cecilia Casolani shared her gratitude for the ongoing support, noting that her parents' legacy continues to touch lives in Malta and beyond. "The journey towards sainthood is not only a testament to my parents' holiness but also to the love and faith of all who continue to share their story," she said.
The canonization process for Henry and Inez Casolani remains an important and deeply spiritual initiative, and the ongoing support of the Maltese community, including its leaders, continues to be crucial for its success, a Department of Information statement said.
Also present for the meeting was Frank Zammit, Malta's Ambassador to the Holy See.
