The Ministry for Justice and Reform of the Construction Sector has announced new leadership over the Court Services Agency and the Asset Recovery Office. Vanessa Grech (right) has been named the new chief executive of the Court Services Agency and Eunice Grech Fiorini (left) has become the Director (chief executive) of the Asset Recovery Office.

Both women commence their respective new roles on Monday, 24 March 2025.

Within the last four years, Grech has occupied the positions of Deputy Chief Executive, Director of Legal Services, legal advisor to the court, and also as Registrar to the Civil Courts and Tribunals. She first joined the public service in August 1998 as a clerk within the Courts of Justice.

On top of her role as legal advisor, Grech has contributed to the formulation of Malta's position on EU-related issues concerning the Court Services Agency. This has also included preparing draft documents and action plans on European matters.

Grech has already represented Malta and the Court Services Agency at international institutions; in some of these several conferences, she had the opportunity to be a keynote speaker.

Justice Minister Jonathan Attard congratulated Grech for her newly appointed role. He commented that she is coming in while the country is already carrying out major reforms in the sector "for more effective and efficient justice." He added that her appointment bodes well for the Agency, which at the time being, has its largest number of employees in its history. Attard hopes for Grech to continue strengthening the Agency while in charge.

Eunice Grech Fiorini - whom Grech will be replacing as the CEO of the Courts Services Agency - will be appointed as the Director (Chief Executive) of the Asset Recovery Office. She is currently the Office's Deputy Chairperson.

Grech Fiorini was nominated for this role by Minister Attard himself, in accordance with the Proceeds of Crime Act, on 4 March 2025. Her nomination was accepted by the Board six days later by Chairman Emeritus Judge J.D. Camilleri, who remarked that she is a good choice for the entity to continue its growth in achievement of its objectives and duties.

Minister Attard commended Grech Fiorini for her work within the Courts Services Agency, before adding that he is "convinced" her skills and expertise will serve her new Office - which he noted has become a central institution to the fight against crime.

She is replacing Anthony Sevasta.

Grech Fiorini began working in the legal and judicial sector in 1998 as a clerk and has held multiple key positions, including as Director of Criminal Courts and Tribunals and Assistant Registrar.

As CEO of the Courts Services Agency, Grech Fiorini has led several projects that "significantly improved the efficiency and infrastructure of the judicial system in Malta," the Ministry stated.
