Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri announced the sixth edition of the annual event 'Science in the Citadel', taking place on Sunday 27 April 2025, from 10am to 6pm in and around the Citadel in Gozo.

In a statement Wednesday, Camilleri said that on Friday 25 April, the 'Springtime in Gozo' programme will also kick off, and run until 18 May 2025.

Camilleri said that for the spring season, the Cultural Heritage Directorate within the Ministry has prepared a strong programme of activities spread over three weeks, featuring a variety of events that highlight the cultural diversity and traditions of the island.

Among the attractions are the Memorji concert, the Fireworks Festival, the Gozo Spring Fair, and Qalb il-Frawli.

For science lovers, the 'Science in the Citadel' event will build on previous years and offer an interactive experience that combines education with entertainment, he said.

This event aims to promote education and engagement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among the public.

He said that visitors will be able to participate in interactive exhibitions, hands-on activities, and demonstrations showcasing the latest scientific research and technological innovations.

The event brings together participants from across the scientific spectrum, and this year will also feature stands demonstrating the 3D printing process, a robotics stand by the European Institute for Emerging Technologies, a stand focused on astronomy, and another exhibition presented by women who have made a name and career for themselves in STEM.

The statement said that there will also be various workshops, a treasure hunt with a scientific and cultural twist, and opportunities to meet researchers and industry experts.

"Events like 'Science in the Citadel' bring us closer to the scientific and technological world which, now more than ever, plays a vital role in our daily lives," it said.

While inviting everyone to visit Gozo during this beautiful time of the year, Camilleri said that the events prepared for spring are a testament to Gozo's vibrant cultural heritage, which bodes well for the upcoming summer.

'Science in the Citadel' is a free, family-friendly festival organised by the EcoGozo Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, and it attracts visitors from across Malta and Gozo.
