A 25-year-old man residing in Santa Venera and a 24-year-old woman residing in Bormla were arrested during traffic inspections on Triq is-Salib, Marsa.

On Saturday afternoon, during routine checks, the police stopped a Kia Picanto vehicle. While speaking to the driver, he aroused suspicion and was therefore asked to step out of the vehicle.

A search on his person revealed a sum of cash, while a search of the vehicle and the passenger's handbag uncovered several sachets containing a substance suspected to be cannabis, as well as a sachet suspected to contain cocaine.

The drugs were found in circumstances indicating they were not intended for personal use.

Magistrate Dr Antoine Agius Bonnici LL.D was informed of the case and opened a magisterial inquiry.
