PL welcomes ‘broad support’ for the Malta 2050 Vision, says PN is ‘inconsistent’

The Labour Party has welcomed the "broad support for the Malta 2050 Vision" and calls on the Opposition to step up its position in relation to this national process.

Just one week since the launch by the Government of the public consultation based on the Malta Vision 2050, it has already received broad support from constituted bodies and civil society, the Labour Party said.

"Apart from several private and business entities that endorsed this process, there were also several leading economists who welcomed the key proposals as well as newspaper editorials that gave it positive reviews."

"Unfortunately, it seems that the Nationalist Party continues to be the only entity that is not ready for the challenge that our country faces in this regard. The Nationalist Party is being inconsistent in the statements, articles and public statements being made by its Leader and MPs to the extent that they seem to disagree, between themselves, on this matter."

"Whilst Nationalist MPs Jerome Caruana Cilia, Ivan J Bartolo and Ivan Castillo were not partisan about Malta Vision 2050 and called for political maturity and dialogue for the common good, on the other hand Nationalist Leader Bernard Grech was destructive and negative as usual."

The Labour Party appealed to the Nationalist Party to avoid political partisanship on this matter and "refrain from being split, internally."

The Labour Party reiterates that this Vision should be a process of national vision that unites the country and all the people and not divide it, because Vision 2025 is meant to look forward with optimism towards the future of our country.
