Prime Minister Robert Abela, accompanied by his wife Lydia Abela and Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri visited the Prison Bakery at the Corradino Correctional Facility in Paola on Thursday.
Abela, who was accompanied by the CEO of the Correctional Services Agency Christopher Siegersma, observed the ongoing work being carried out by inmates and agency officials to prepare products such as traditional 'Apostles' Rings' and other sweets, which are available for purchase by the public, a statement said.
Abela praised the initiative, which has continued to grow in popularity yearly during this period.
The Prison Bakery initiative, beyond offering traditional products to the public, also contributes to the rehabilitation of residents at the CCF by giving them a sense of purpose and helping them acquire valuable new skills.
