28 people died by suicide during 2024

There were a total of 28 persons who died by suicide in 2024, 25 of whom were male, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri said.

The Minister was replying to a parliamentary question made by PN MP Graziella Attard Previ, who asked Camilleri to say how many suicides occurred last year, as well as to split the information based on age and gender.

Camilleri provided a table of how many suicides there were last year, split by gender and month.

In January of 2024, there were two males who committed suicide, with another two males in February. There was one death in March, a male.

In April of 2024, there were a total of four persons who committed suicide, three males and one female. In May, there were three suicides, all male. There was one death in June, another male.

In July, there were another four deaths by suicide, one female and three male. There was one death in August, a male.

Three males died by suicide in September of the same year, while one female and two males died by suicide in October of 2024.

There were three more deaths by suicide in November, all male, and another male died by suicide in December, bringing the total to 28 persons, 25 of which were men, and three were women.
