The Broadcasting Authority has once again reprimanded what is supposed to be the national broadcaster, finding it guilty of being unbalanced and partial in the way it attempted to censor the Opposition when reporting on measures announced by the Government in a supposed attempt to address the traffic problem it created.
In its decision issued today, the PN said the authority told PBS - which the PN dubs as Super One 2, with reference to the Labour Party's own media - that it has a duty to ensure that whenever there is reporting on issues of national importance, the reaction of the Opposition must be broadcast with that of the Government.
The report was filed by the PN after the 8pm news bulletin on 29 March included an eight-minute report on traffic measures, but relegated the PN's reaction to the last part of the programme.
Robert Abela, because he is weak and under pressure, has grown accustomed to using what is meant to be the public broadcaster as a tool to censor anyone who disagrees with him, the PN said.
The Partit Nazzjonalista will continue to take all necessary steps until PBS stops acting like Super One 2 and becomes a true public broadcaster.
In these proceedings, the Partit Nazzjonalista was represented by lawyer Michael Piccinino.
