The Nationalist Party is urging public participation for a rally in Għargħur on Wednesday to protest against what it says is the hijacking of the local council by the Labour Party.
In a stunt on the eve of the event, in front of the Għargħur local council premises, the PN set up a blue block showing 62.3%, the amount of votes captured by the PN in last June's election, and a smaller red block showing what the Labour Party garnered - 37.7%.
The Pn elected three councillors to Labour's two, but one of the three PN representatives resigned from the party and joined forces with the two Labour councillors to topple mayor Helen Gauci.
The PN is saying the PL made an anti-democratic move spearheaded by Robert Abela, and is not respecting the will of the Għargħur residents.
