Opposition Leader Bernard Grech has firmly denied rumours, fuelled by the Labour Party, that he is set to resign imminently.
Answering a question by his party's media, Grech said that he remains fully focused on leading both the internal work of his parliamentary group and its external responsibilities.
"The Nationalist Party will continue being the voice of the people, the party that works for the people and for the country," he said, adding that it is clear Labour is grappling with its own internal difficulties and attempting to deflect by shifting its problems onto others.
"They should address their own problems," Grech said.
A PN spokesperson responding to questions by this newsroom said that the PN is denying the resignation rumours.
"This is nothing but fake news. PN Leader Bernard Grech is continuing with his work as he always has, and is looking ahead to ensure that by the end of this week, the PN holds another successful Fundraising Marathon, which will continue to help it strengthen itself as an alternative government," the spokesperson said.
"It is shameful that the Labour Party is inventing and spreading these rumours to cover up the divisions within its own ranks," he said.
