Standing outside Court moments after the sentencing of four men to life imprisonment for their complicity in the murders of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia and lawyer Carmel Chircop, Chircop's widow Maryrose Chircop expressed her gratitude to the prosecution team, the presiding judge, and Assistant Commissioner Keith Arnaud and his team for the way they led the investigation and brought the case to justice.

Lawyer Chircop was killed on 8 October, 2015, by gunfire in front of his garage in Birkirkara, while Caruana Galizia was murdered by a car bomb on 16 October, 2017.

In relation to these two murders, brothers Robert and Adrian Agius, known as "tal-Maksar," George Degiorgio, known as "iċ-Ċiniż", and Jamie Vella stood trial. All four were sentenced to life in prison by Judge Edwina Grima following a six-week trial by jury.

Maryrose Chircop on Tuesday took the opportunity to thank Judge Grima for the dignified way she led the jury with rectitude, as well as the family's lawyer Dr Vince Galea for always being there for the family.

She also thanked the prosecution lawyers Dr Anthony Vella, Dr Danica Vella and Dr Godwin Cini, for their preparedness and how they led the prosecution.

"Last, but not least, I want to thank family and friends who have supported us since day one of the tragedy," Chircop said.
