Hamrun Spartans wrote history on Thursday as they qualified to the League Phase of the UEFA Conference League.
Hamrun are the first ever Maltese side to qualify to the League Phase, where the Spartans will have six more matches in the group.
This is a dream come through for the club and their ambitious President Joseph Portelli
Hamrun yesterday figured in a 2‐2 draw in Riga to qualify 3‐2 on aggregate following last week's victory at Ta' Qali.
Hamrun took the lead on 12 minutes through Thioune but five minutes later RFS obtained the equaliser from the penalty spot.
On 67 minutes Polito again put the Spartans in front, with Lemajic obtaining the equaliser on 87 minutes.
There were scenes of jubilation in Hamrun as the final whistle signalled their official entry to the Conference League main stage.
