Malta shortlisted for the prestigious European Captive Awards

FinanceMalta's annual financial services conference has secured record support from the industry, with 45 firms confirmed as sponsors for the November gathering.

The event, now in its 18th year, will take place on November 19-20 at Hilton Malta and is widely regarded as the sector's flagship meeting point.

Graziella Grech, Chief Operating Officer at FinanceMalta, said the growth in sponsorship numbers, up from 38 last year, reflected "the increasingly strong confidence of our industry in Malta's financial services ecosystem."

She stressed that as a public-private foundation, FinanceMalta organises the conference in collaboration with industry stakeholders.

"This investment by the industry ensures that the conference is not only entirely industry-funded, but also built by and for the sector, making it a true collaborative platform," Ms Grech said.

The increase in support coincides with Malta's sharp rise in the 2025 Greenfield FDI Performance Index, where the country advanced 50 places to 33rd worldwide. FinanceMalta said this recognition has added momentum to the sector, particularly in areas such as fintech, ESG, and skills development.

Further highlighting Malta's growing profile, the jurisdiction has just been shortlisted for the prestigious European Captive Awards, standing alongside established centres such as Guernsey, Isle of Man and Luxembourg. FinanceMalta said this international recognition reinforces the island's credibility in niche financial services and strengthens its positioning as a jurisdiction of choice.

While the conference draws support from a wide range of financial services players, two firms are leading sponsors: Calamatta Cuschieri Moneybase plc as Diamond Sponsor and Dominion as Networking Event Sponsor.

The nine Platinum Sponsors include AQA Capital Ltd, Finco Trust Services, Bank of Valletta, the Malta Stock Exchange, LifeStar Insurance, Systemic, Mediterranea Capital Partners, Investors Europe (Malta) Ltd and Audentia Capital.

"This record sponsor line-up demonstrates market confidence in Malta's financial services industry. We know we cannot compete on scale, but thanks to the involvement of our sponsors as active stakeholders, we can lead on innovation," Dr Buttigieg concluded.
