Prime Minister Robert Abela accused the PN of attacking government workers in Gozo, in response to a Parliamentary Question asking him whether he will ask for an investigation into Gozo workers allegedly leaving by 10am.

Nationalist Party MP Graziella Attard Previ asked Abela whether he would address the Auditor General to investigate government workers in Gozo leaving work by 10AM.

Responding to this, the Prime Minister did not say whether he would or wouldn't. He remarked that it is "extremely ironic" that the Opposition has ended up "attacking Gozitan workers in the public service" at the same time that it has elected a party leader from Gozo, referring to Opposition Leader Alex Borg.

Abela said that "unlike the Opposition", his administration "factually believes in the public service workers". He commented that such a belief is why the government signed a collective agreement "with the best working conditions ever given to these workers," which he added are the foundation of the country's economic and social success. The Prime Minister concluded by saying that, in contrast to the government's belief in the workers, the Opposition has chosen to attack the public service in an attempt to halt Malta and Gozo's progress. "A labour government guarantees that it will continue to stand by the public service workers and their families," he said.
