Like the PN, the UĦM Voice of the Workers is proposing measures aimed at helping Maltese and Gozitan workers and families live a more comfortable and dignified life, a statement by the Nationalist Party read.

The Chief Executive of the UĦM Josef Vella welcomed Leader of the PN Alex Borg and a PN delegation at the UĦM headquarters, where he presented the UĦM Voice of the Workers' proposals for the 2026 Budget.

The PN Leader expressed his satisfaction that the UĦM Voice of the Workers' proposals are in line with those of the PN, including measures addressing the country's demographic challenge.

Borg recalled that the PN is proposing a new tax bracket - Parent 2 - aimed at easing the financial burden on families with more than one child, as well as the proposal for one year of paid parental leave for new parents. "These come in addition to measures intended to safeguard work-life balance."

The Leader of the PN also spoke about the difficulties families, particularly young people, are facing in purchasing their own home, referring to PN proposals in this sector such as Rent-to-Buy, Equity Sharing, and other incentives to encourage the purchase of vacant properties.

He also referred to the injustices that persist in the pension system for those born before 1962, stating that these must be addressed without delay.

The Leader of the PN discussed the party's proposals for other areas, including the introduction of a minimum wage for students pursuing courses in career sectors suffering from a shortage of Maltese workers, proposals for better connectivity between the two islands, and measures in favour of a healthier environment. The PN proposal to allow workers to retain more money in their pockets by making the first €10,000 from overtime and part-time work tax-free was also mentioned.

Accompanying the PN Leader for this meeting were Shadow Minister for Employment Ivan Castillo and Shadow Minister for the Economy and Enterprise Jerome Caruana Cilia. Representing the UĦM Voice of the Workers alongside Josef Vella were Mario Sacco, Director, and Assistant Directors Isabelle Farrugia, Kenneth Abela, and Antoinette Aquilina.
