Malita Investments: PN to call for NAO investigation, Cassola asks for Standards Czar investigation

In the coming days, the PN - through its members on Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) - will be formally requesting the National Audit Office (NAO) to open an investigation into the operations of Malita Investments plc.

"This request to the Auditor General follows serious allegations made by former Labour MEP Marlene Mizzi regarding political meddling in Malita plc, where she had served as Chairperson. The company is responsible, among other things, for managing State housing projects worth millions of euro."

The investigation is also being sought in light of allegations that Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation Roderick Galdes was hobnobbing with certain contractors engaged by the company, the PN said.

"Marlene Mizzi claims she was removed from her post by Roderick Galdes shortly after a meeting in his office, during which she drew his attention to political interference within the company. In view of these allegations, the PN insists that the Labour Government must immediately take all necessary steps to ensure the full truth emerges regarding the decisions taken in this sector and the intentions behind them."

Momentum's Arnold Cassola, meanwhile, has asked the Standards Commissioner to investigate Minister Galdes.
