The Malta Tourism Authority is once again supporting the sixth edition of the Magical Illuminated Trail, taking place at the Verdala Castle Gardens in Buskett from 5 December to 3 January 2026. This esteemed festive attraction continues to be a highlight of Malta's winter calendar, transforming the historic gardens into a sequence of themed worlds designed to elevate the Christmas season for visitors of all ages.
The opening visit was accompanied by Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, who commended the event's contribution to the country's cultural and charitable landscape.

The Magical Illuminated Trail offers an immersive journey through meticulously curated installations. Visitors will experience the tranquil Coral Kingdom, the whimsical charm of Alice's Wonderland, the engaging Interactive Magical Forest, and the vibrant Candy Land. Each themed area is crafted to deliver a distinct visual and sensory experience, making the trail an enjoyable and memorable evening out for families, residents, and tourists alike.
Complementing the illuminated trail, the event features a dedicated Christmas Village, complete with artisan stalls, seasonal delicacies, and a welcoming food court. This space provides an inviting atmosphere for guests to relax, savour festive treats, and explore locally produced crafts.
Importantly, the organisers of the event donate part of the income to the Malta Community Chest Fund ensuring that participation directly supports charitable initiatives across the Maltese Islands. Through the MTA's continued support, the Magical Illuminated Trail not only enriches Malta's cultural and seasonal offerings but also strengthens community well-being.
Commenting on the MTA's involvement, Dr Charles Mangion, Chairman of the Malta Tourism Authority, stated: "December in Malta offers a unique opportunity to showcase the island's warmth, charm, and vibrant festive spirit. The Malta Tourism Authority is proud to support events such as the Magical Illuminated Trail, which bring families together and offer both locals and visitors an exceptional Christmas experience. By endorsing a diverse range of seasonal initiatives, we continue to enhance Malta's appeal during the winter months while fostering a welcoming environment where community, culture, and enjoyment come together."
The event, open during the Christmas holidays, also offers an opportunity for families and children to visit the historic garden of the Verdala Castle. The Magical Illuminated Trail remains a distinguished festive experience, highlighting the beauty of this Castle and underscoring the commitment of national institutions to cultural enrichment and tourism development during the holiday season.
