Hamrun Spartans suffered two second half goals at Ta' Qali Stadium to lose their fourth Conference League match, this time against Shakhthar Donetsk of Ukraine.

Shakhtar came close after 7 minutes through a long run by fullback Konoplia, who drove forward into the edge of the box and tried his luck with his left foot, hitting the post.

Ħamrun responded in the most aggressive way possible, creating two dangerous attacks, with Ndri Koffi having a chance to score in one of them with a curling shot toward the top-right corner after 14 minutes.

Another Shakhtar chance arrived in the 25th minute when Lucas Meirelles dribbled past Marcellina, entered the box, and shot low, with Bonello saving well on the ground.

The most dangerous action of the first half fell to Ħamrun Spartans in the 40th minute, when Joseph Mbong broke forward from the Spartans' box and continued his run all the way into the opponents' area, eventually playing a through ball to Ante Coric, who burst into the box and shot with his left foot. However, goalkeeper Fesjun did well to block the Croatian's low effort.

The first half ended 0-0, with the Spartans managing to keep level with the Ukrainian side.

Ħamrun started the second half on the attack from the opening minutes, becoming dangerous again through a long-distance attempt by Joseph Mbong when Fesjun was out of position. However, Mbong could not hit the target and lifted the ball over.

In the 59th minute, Shakhtar produced four shots on target in the space of 10 seconds, with the Ħamrun defence and Bonello refusing to concede a goal.

Despite all of Ħamrun's efforts, Shakhtar proved too strong for the Maltese side. The Ukrainians opened the score in the 61st minute with a good goal by Luca Meirelles and doubled their lead three minutes later when Isaque lobbed the ball over Bonello after a pass from Pedrinho.

The match became closed for the remainder of the game, with the Ukrainians circulating the ball and content to maintain their two-goal advantage, while Ħamrun Spartans continued pressing but were unable to win back possession or create dangerous chances.
