For the sixth consecutive year, disciplined forces officers have collected and distributed food to various residential homes around Malta during this festive season.

Joined by the Minister for the Interior, Byron Camilleri, disciplined forces officers from various entities within the Home Affairs Ministry chose to visit children’s homes and centres that assist people who have experienced domestic violence, such as Dar Milja, Dar Sagra Familja, the nuns in Dar St. Joseph in Żabbar as well as the Ursuline Sisters in Pietà.

Assistance was also provided to the Peace Laboratory in Ħal Far that is led by Fr. Dijonisju Mintoff.

This initiative is aimed to help those most in need while continuing to bolster values of solidarity, generosity, and social responsibility.

Minister Camilleri praised this initiative and thanked all the workers for their commitment.

“This is an initiative that goes beyond the daily duties of the forces of order,” the Minister said, “It is a clear testament to the heart and sense of solidarity that these women and men carry with them, not only in protecting the security of the country, but also in protecting the dignity and wellbeing of those who need our help the most.”

The Home Affairs Minister noted that these gestures continue to show that law enforcement forces are an integral part of communities and fully embrace the human values on which Maltese society is built upon.

Minister Camilleri thanked everyone who participated in this food collection and distribution, as well as the residential homes for their continuous work while stating that these solidarity initiatives must continue year after year.
