A 54-year-old woman who lives in Balzan was taken to Mater Dei Hospital at around 8.15am on Monday, after she was involved in an accident in Triq in-Naxxar, Birkirkara.

The police said that initial investigations found that the woman was struck by a Toyota Passo vehicle driven by a 68-year-old man who resides in Santa Venera.

The woman was given assistance by a medical team and was taken to hospital by ambulance, where she was later certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
