The Police are investigating the discovery of a body in St George's Bay, St Julian's.
At around 1am on Sunday, the Police were informed that a body had been sighted in the sea.
Following this information, the Police went to the scene where they found the body, which is that of a man. The man has not yet been identified, as the body was found in an advanced state of decomposition. Initial investigations indicate that the body had been in the sea for several days.
Magistrate Joseph Mifsud was informed of the case and appointed several experts to assist him in the inquiry that has been opened. An autopsy is expected to be carried out on the body to establish the cause of death.
Police investigations into this case are still ongoing.
