The fact that the PN has resorted to using an extraordinary event like the weather we experienced in recent days purely to try to undermine the Msida Creek project shows that the Opposition has never changed, the Labour Party said.
It was replying to a PN statement which referred to footage showing a line of cars reversing along the flyover carriageway heading towards Valletta as a result of water that accumulated in the area following the storms of the past few days.
“If there is anyone who has failed our country, even in planning, it is certainly the Nationalist Party,” the PL said.
“Trying to make political capital out of a situation like this exposes the Nationalist Party’s cheap politics,” the party added.
It said that the PN is not even being consistent because after initially supporting the project, then making a drastic U-turn and continuously criticising it for months saying it was against it, now they seem to be in favour of it again — only claiming that the Government should have done it differently.
“We will leave the judgment on the project’s impact in the hands of the people, as we have always done. But when it comes to political consistency, we certainly won’t be taking lessons from the Nationalist Party, whose only consistent trait is partisan politics,” the PL said.
The party added that when it comes to the country’s largest projects, a Labour Government delivered what it promised and, in matters of infrastructure, always listened to the experts.
“It definitely won’t be taking advice from the PN, because if it were up to them, not a single infrastructural project would be carried out in our country,” the party concluded.
