What started as a simple act of support has quickly turned into a powerful wave of solidarity. A fundraiser launched on 4fund.com to support Calvin Brincat, a participant in the 2024 edition of HazZzard, has already raised over €38,000, thanks to the overwhelming response from friends, artists, influencers and the wider Maltese community.

Calvin, a 32-year-old event planner and delivery worker from Birkirkara, was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer - a diagnosis that changed his life overnight. Since then, his daily routine has been replaced by hospital visits and ongoing medical treatment.

The fundraiser was launched by a close friend to help cover medical expenses, daily living costs and unexpected needs. What followed exceeded all expectations. Within a short time, well-known Maltese artists and influencers, including Eurovision singer Miriana Conte, began sharing Calvin's story, significantly amplifying its reach. Maltese media outlets soon followed, further raising awareness of the campaign.

For Calvin, the most difficult moment was not the diagnosis itself, but its impact on his family.

"The hardest part was seeing my mum crying and losing herself" - he admits.

At the same time, it is his family who gives him the strength to keep going.

"My family gives me a lot of love, support and courage".

Beyond the financial support, the emotional response has been just as powerful. Hundreds of messages, shares and donations have reminded Calvin that he is not facing this journey alone.

"This fundraiser reminded me how lucky I am to be surrounded by such amazing people" - Calvin says. "Every donation, message and share meant the world to me. Thank you for believing in me and supporting me through this journey." - he adds.

Due to the overwhelming response, the original fundraising target was increased from €50,000 to €70,000. In just over a week, 1,028 people came together to raise €38,596 for Calvin. The fundraiser has now been closed, and the funds raised will help him focus on his treatment without the added burden of financial stress.
