Fgura United captain Dylan Caruana remains in intensive care following an on-pitch collision during a match on Sunday.

Caruana, 30, sustained serious head injuries in a head-to-head clash with teammate Alan Abdel Rahman in the closing minutes of Fgura United's game against St Andrews at the Centenary Stadium in Ta' Qali. Both players were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

The club said Rahman was discharged from hospital on Monday evening. Caruana, however, remains in intensive care, where he is receiving treatment from a team of medical professionals.

The club appealed for the privacy of the players' families to be respected in what it described as delicate circumstances. It added that it is taking the necessary professional measures to support its athletes and staff. In this context, a request has been made for Saturday's match to be postponed.

Fgura United also expressed its gratitude to the football community and the wider public for their support and solidarity. The club said it will issue further updates as necessary and urged the public to show maturity and avoid unnecessary speculation.

On Monday, the Malta Football Players Association said it would remain in close contact with the club to offer any support or assistance required. Several other clubs have also published messages of support in recent days.
