Enrica Bonaccorti, the versatile host, actress, and lyricist who defined eras of Italian broadcasting, passed away Thursday at the age of 76, Italian media report. Her death follows a public battle with pancreatic cancer, a diagnosis she first shared with fans in September 2025.

Born in Savona on November 18, 1949, Bonaccorti's journey in the spotlight began in the late 1960s. She initially established herself as a talent in theatre, collaborating with the likes of Paola Quattrini and the legendary Domenico Modugno, before expanding into cinema, radio, and television drama.

The 1980s saw her become a household name across Italy. Her charisma and sharp wit earned her the 1987 Telegatto for Female Personality of the Year. In 1991, she broke new ground as the host of the debut season of Non è la Rai, a show that would become a cultural phenomenon. She followed this success by co-hosting the primetime music competition Vota la Voce alongside Red Ronnie in 1992. Her career continued for decades as a popular guest and commentator, and she also authored four novels between 2007 and 2022.

While many knew her as a face of television, Bonaccorti held a prestigious place in Italian music history as a lyricist. Most notably, she penned the lyrics to La lontananza, one of Domenico Modugno's most enduring and beloved masterpieces.

In late September 2025, Bonaccorti took to social media to reveal her diagnosis, ending a four-month period of private struggle. In a poignant post, she admitted to the fear that had kept her in hiding, referencing her colleague Eleonora Giorgi, who had died from the same illness in March 2025.

Bonaccorti is remembered as a pioneer for women in Italian media, leaving behind a legacy that spans the stage, the screen, and the songbook.
