The Ministry for Justice has issued a public call for applications for two new magistrates.
This call follows the appointment in recent days of two new judges, both of whom had been serving as magistrates.
This increase builds on the various appointments made to the judiciary during this legislature, which have resulted in the country continuing to have the highest number of judges and magistrates in its history.
Minister for Justice and Reform of the Construction Sector Jonathan Attard said that this increase in the judiciary is clear proof of how the Government has been consistently investing in the justice sector.
"This call for new magistrates will continue to strengthen the Judiciary and complement the legislative work with greater specialisation in our country's courts. We remain committed to continuing to provide the best conditions and administrative support so that justice is delivered within a reasonable timeframe," Dr Attard said.
Interested applicants must submit their application, together with all required documents, no later than Thursday, 23 April 2026, by 12:00pm, to the Secretary of the Judicial Appointments Committee.
