SkolaSajf 2026 has officially kicked off across Malta and Gozo, welcoming 12,634 students to 54 centres, the Education Ministry said Friday. This year's edition, which operates under the theme "Reach for the Stars," aims to provide children with a safe, stimulating, and informal environment to develop their skills, creativity, and teamwork throughout the summer holidays.

The initiative, managed by the Foundation for Educational Services (FES), involves 45 mainstream centers in Malta, five in Gozo, and four resource centers. To support this large-scale operation, a team of 2,761 educators and staff have been mobilized as part of a €7.4 million government investment.

During a visit to the SkolaSajf centre at San Ġwakkin in Marsaskala, Minister for Education and Sport, Byron Camilleri, highlighted the program's dual importance.

He noted that while it serves as a valuable space for children to explore their potential, it also provides essential support for working families, ensuring high-quality care during the school break. FES CEO Michael Bondin added that the programme is designed to inspire students to pursue their ambitions through a variety of activities and collaborations during the eight-week initiative.

The programme is set to run until September 11, with a brief recess between August 10 and August 14. While core services are provided from 8:30am to 12:30pm, Monday through Friday, select centres are offering extended hours starting at 7am and concluding at 5:30pm to further accommodate the needs of working parents.
