Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Employment Jonathan Attard, together with Infrastructure Malta Chief Executive Officer Steve Ellul and Fgura Mayor Clayton Cascun Portelli, visited the ongoing works in Triq A.M. Valperga in Fgura. 

“This week, we commenced our commitments in this street, where Infrastructure Malta is carrying out its role to ensure not only the provision of the necessary services but also the safety required for the residents of this area,” Minister Attard stated.

As part of this project, a new road was constructed. To ensure that the development blends harmoniously with the surrounding rural landscape, the structure overlooking the adjacent fields was finished with an integrated Maltese stone façade, complementing the traditional character of the area and the existing rubble walls in the vicinity.

The project also includes extensive infrastructural works, including the installation of a new water main, the replacement and upgrading of the drainage system, the construction of concrete parking bays, and the reconstruction of the existing pavements.

“Since part of the road was only recently formed, it was necessary to undertake its construction with particular attention to quality, safety, and the services required by residents and all those who make use of this road,” Minister Attard added.

Infrastructure Malta Architect Luke Bartolo explained that this road, which had been scheduled for upgrading, is now being rebuilt due to a difference in levels that required substantial intervention.

Fgura Mayor Clayton Cascun Portelli praised all those involved in the project, noting that the works not only include the installation of new services but will also give the area a completely new look. “I would like to thank the Ministry, Infrastructure Malta, the architects and all the workers involved in this project, from which our residents will greatly benefit,” the Mayor concluded.
