A 50-year-old man suffered burns during an incident yesterday evening at his residence in Triq il-Ħtajriet, Mosta, the police said.

At around 7.30pm, the Police were informed that the man had sustained injuries while he was on the roof of his home.

Preliminary investigations showed that the man suffered burns when, for some reason, fuel he was using to light a barbecue spilled onto him.

A medical team and members of the Civil Protection Department immediately arrived at the scene to provide assistance.

He was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where he was later certified as having suffered serious injuries. Police investigations are still ongoing.
