A diver has died while he was working in the waters off St Paul’s Islands, police said in a statement on Monday.
Police said that the victim was a 41-year-old man who lives in Rabat.
He has been named by TVM as Redeemer Grima.
Officers were informed of the situation at around midday. Police said that the diver was brought ashore by the Armed Forces of Malta at the quay in Bugibba.
A medical team assisted him, but he was certified dead a short time later.
Magistrate Monica Borg Galea is leading an inquiry while investigations by the police and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority are also ongoing.
