The Nationalist Party has paid tribute to the memory of Charles Demicoli, who has passed away at the age of 80.
The PN said that Demicoli had dedicated long years of his life contributing to the PN and its cause.
The party said that Demicoli will be remembered as an activist, notably "for his significant work during a period when democracy and freedom in our country were under threat."
"Throughout the 1980s, he was at the forefront of defending these fundamental rights," the PN said.
PN leader Alex Borg and the rest of PN's leadership have extended their condolences Demicoli's family during this turbulent time.
Demicoli was a former police inspector and a PN blue jacket.
His son, former MEP candidate Edward Demicoli, wrote online that in accordance with his father's wishes, no funeral will be held in the wake of his passing. Demicoli stated that those wishing to honour his memory are requested to donate to Puttinu Cares, "a cause that was close to his heart."
