Transport Malta introduces front registration plate stickers for eligible vehicles

Friday, 21 August 2026, 13:39 Last update: about 14 hours ago

Transport Malta has rolled out a new option for vehicle owners facing space constraints on their front bumpers, allowing them to use an official registration plate sticker instead of a traditional physical plate.

This alternative is not open to everyone; it requires a prior assessment by Transport Malta's Technical Unit and approval from the relevant board. Once a vehicle is confirmed eligible, owners can apply in person at Transport Malta offices in Paola or Lija, open Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, by completing Form VEH 19.

After completing the application and making the required payment, applicants will be notified when their sticker is ready for collection.

Transport Malta mandates that the sticker be affixed to the inside of the windscreen, where it must remain fully visible and unobstructed at all times. Motorists looking for more details or assistance are encouraged to reach out directly to Transport Malta.
