Ruben Amorim's Milan won the first match of the second matchday of Serie A, imposing a 2-0 victory over Venezia and temporarily moving to the top of the standings with six points.

On the day San Siro paid tribute to the memory of its eternal captain Franco Baresi, the Rossoneri claimed three points thanks to the first Serie A strike from their new number 9, Goncalo Ramos, and an own goal resulting from a rebound by Redouane Halhal.

After squandering at least a couple of chances between the first and second half, the Portuguese striker scored with a diagonal shot in the 24th minute of the second half, which goalkeeper Filip Stankovic could do nothing to stop.

Securing the match for Milan in the 44th minute was an unfortunate own goal off a rebound by Halhal, following an uncapitalized chance by Swiss midfielder Ardon Jashari when he was one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper.

Despite the defeat, it was a positive performance for Stroppa's men, who managed to create several chances without converting them, just as they did in the opening matchday against Eusebio Di Francesco's Lecce.
