A 30-year-old Brazilian man is suffering from grievous injuries after falling a height of about one and a half storeys down a shaft inside an apartment block in Manuel De Vilhena Street, Gzira, the police said Wednesday.

The accident took place this morning at around 6am. Members of the Civil Protection Department and a medical team were called to the scene to assist the victim.

An ambulance transported him to Mater Dei Hospital, where medical staff certified his injuries as grievous.

Police investigations into the accident are currently ongoing.
