Prime Minister Robert Abela has met with senior leaders from Delta Air Lines and BlackRock in New York to explore expanded economic and travel ties, including the possibility of extending the direct Malta-New York flight route into 2027.
During discussions with Delta Vice President Scott Jordan, Abela highlighted the success of the New York-JFK to Malta route since its launch in June. Operating three times a week, the service achieved an impressive average seat load factor of 84 percent through September 21. Both parties discussed maintaining the connection through 2027 and stepping up promotional efforts within the American market to further boost business and tourism.
In a separate meeting with BlackRock representatives, Abela emphasised Malta's economic strength, stability, and ongoing commitment to drawing investment toward innovative and strategic sectors.
Throughout his visit, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of keeping Malta a competitive and reliable partner globally. He stressed that incoming investments must continue to generate quality career opportunities and foster growth for local workers and businesses.
