Thousands of people attended this year's edition of Rockestra on Saturday night and enjoyed the show put on by some of Malta's best local talent, including singers and dancers who were accompanied by musicians from the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

This year, three musical directors worked alongside Maestro Aurelio Belli to conduct Saturday's show. The musical arrangements were planned out by Maestro Belli.

In a statement published on Sunday, the Office of the President stated that, above all, the tribute paid to Maestro Belli stood out, including his interpretations of his favourite songs by his wife, Gloriana Arpa Belli, as well as the personal recounts given by those who worked with him, including from Artistic Director Pawlu Borg Bonaci.

This year's Rockestra saw a comeback by the group Animae, who reunited for this occasion.

Also present in Saturday's Rockestra were Pawlu Borg Bonaci, Kenneth Calleja, Joe Roscoe, Gianni Zammit, Janice Debattista, Kersten Graham, Matthew James Borg, Karin Duff, Carmelo Ebejer, Petra Zammit, Joelene Samhan, David Lowe, Konrad Pule, Martina Borg, Pamela Bezzina, Klinsmann Coleiro, Ivan Grech, Frank Calleja, Chris Grech, Ira Losco, and Gloriana Arpa Belli.

Among other distinguished guests, the evening was attended by Her Excellency, the President of Malta, Myriam Spiteri Debono, as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Carmelo Abela, and Minister Malcolm Paul Agius Galea and Owen Bonnici.

The Office of the President of Malta said that President Spiteri Debono thanked everyone who worked for this year's Rockestra to be a success. She also expressed her gratitude to everyone all those who attended and, through their presence, contributed in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
