Repubblika and Occupy Justice have launched a programme of events throughout October to mark the ninth anniversary of the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
The organisations have chosen "Justice Demands Action" as this year's theme, saying that nine years after Caruana Galizia was killed, the pursuit of justice remains unfinished.
The programme will include a protest concert, a constitutional civic convention discussion, a public lecture on the right to truth and organised crime, a workshop on whistleblowing, and a series of commemorative events on 16 October, the anniversary of Caruana Galizia's assassination.
The organisers said the events aim to highlight press freedom, whistleblower protection, institutional accountability and the fight against corruption and impunity.
The programme will begin on Sunday 4 October, with Protesta: Concert for Justice at Triton Square in Valletta from 4pm.
The event is being organised by Moviment Graffitti, Repubblika and Occupy Justice and will feature performances by Brikkuni, Beangrowers, BILA, Skimmed, Superlove, Karmaġenn, CHILD, Bruda, Edgar Allan Paul, Storm Petrelle, MYLES, Justin & Noah, and REA & Funky Monkey.
The concert will combine music and art with a public call for truth, justice and change.
On Saturday 10 October, a round-table discussion forming part of the Constitutional Civic Convention process will take place at the University of Malta Valletta Campus.
Beginning at 10am, the discussion will focus on citizen participation and Malta's democratic and constitutional renewal.
On Thursday 15 October, Professor Francesca Rispoli, Co-President of Italian anti-mafia network Libera, will deliver a public lecture at the University of Malta's Msida campus.
The lecture, beginning at 6.30pm in LT1, is titled "The Right to Truth: Remembrance, Listening and Solidarity: Libera's Experience in the Fight Against Organised Crime."
Rispoli is a researcher and university lecturer whose work focuses on organised crime, corruption and civic anti-mafia movements. Her research and activism examine the role of victims' memory, education and citizen mobilisation in confronting organised crime and corruption.
The main commemorative activities will take place on Friday 16 October, nine years after Caruana Galizia was assassinated.
At 10am, a workshop on whistleblowing will be held at the Casino Maltese in Valletta as part of the poWer project. It will be led by Anna Myers, founder and Executive Director of the Whistleblowing International Network.
Myers has worked in the field of whistleblower protection for around two decades and has advised whistleblowers, organisations, employers and national and international institutions. Her previous work has included roles with Public Concern at Work, the Council of Europe's GRECO and the Government Accountability Project in Washington, DC.
A silent gathering will then take place at 3pm in Triq il-Bidnija, at the site where Caruana Galizia was killed.
A Mass for Daphne will be celebrated at St Francis Church in Valletta at 6pm.
The day's main remembrance event will take place at 7pm opposite Parliament. Organisers said the gathering will honour Caruana Galizia, express solidarity with her family and renew calls for truth, justice and accountability.
Repubblika and Occupy Justice said the events are intended not only to remember Caruana Galizia but also to encourage public action on issues surrounding journalism, whistleblowing and institutional accountability.
"Remembering is not enough," the organisations said, arguing that journalists should be able to work without fear, whistleblowers should be protected and corruption and impunity should not become accepted features of public life.
The organisations are also appealing for public donations to help meet the costs of the anniversary programme.
