A widespread power outage affected parts of Malta and Gozo shortly after 10am on Monday, with electricity restored to most areas within less than an hour.

Enemalta said the disruption was caused by a trip at Delimara Power Station 4 at 10:08am.

The company said it immediately activated standby generation facilities and began restoring electricity supplies to affected localities within 13 minutes.

Power was progressively restored across the affected areas, with Enemalta saying all customers had regained electricity by 10:50am.

The outage affected a number of localities across Malta and Gozo, including Mdina, Qormi, Żebbuġ (Malta), Żabbar, Siġġiewi, Żejtun, Attard, Balzan, Birkirkara, Birżebbuġa, Dingli, Għargħur, Għaxaq, Ħamrun, Iklin, Kirkop, Lija, Marsa Marsascala, Marsaxlokk, Mellieħa, Mġarr, Mosta, Msida, Naxxar, Rabat (Malta), Safi, St Julian's, San Ġwann, St Paul's Bay, Swieqi, Xgħajra and Żurrieq.
