The Partit Nazzjonalista said Wednesday it welcomed the Court's decision to grant its request for an urgent hearing of the constitutional case against Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) and the Broadcasting Authority concerning impartiality in broadcasting.

This case seeks to restore the right of the public to free broadcasting and to ensure that justice is done, the PN said.

The Nationalist Party on Tuesday filed a constitutional case against the Broadcasting Authority and national broadcaster PBS, alleging persistent political imbalance in public broadcasting and a failure to enforce previous rulings concerning impartiality. 

PBS rejected the allegations of imbalance and lack of impartiality levelled against it by the Nationalist Party, saying it will "defend itself fully" in court after the PN filed a constitutional case against the public broadcaster and the Broadcasting Authority.
