MEP David Casa welcomed the rollout of Malta's Social Climate Fund, which will support investment in social housing, renewable energy and cleaner transport for vulnerable households and small businesses.
Casa, who heads the Nationalist Party's delegation in the European Parliament, was one of the European Parliament's lead negotiators on the Social Climate Fund and played a key role in securing a substantial increase in Malta's allocation, which was raised roughly ten-fold from the amount initially foreseen.
"When we negotiated this Fund, our priority was clear: the green transition must improve people's lives and ensure that nobody is left behind," Casa said.
"I am pleased to see these funds now being translated into investment in better housing, lower energy costs and more accessible transport. This is precisely what the Social Climate Fund was created to achieve."
Casa stressed, however, that proper implementation will now be critical.
"Securing the funding was only the first step. We will continue monitoring closely to ensure that every euro is spent properly and transparently, and that the funds actually reach the people they were intended to help," Casa said.
