Cospicua Active Ageing Centre extends opening hours to five days a week

Tuesday, 20 October 2026, 17:44 Last update: about 52 minutes ago

The Active Ageing Centre in Cospicua will now operate five days a week, from Monday to Friday, between 7am and 3pm, following increased interest from older members of the community.

The extension is intended to give elderly people more opportunities to take part in social, educational and cultural activities, while helping them remain active and connected to their community.

During a visit to the centre, Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing Deo Debattista said the longer opening schedule would allow more senior citizens to leave their homes, meet others and learn new skills.

He said active ageing was not merely a service, but an investment in the quality of life of older people.

The centre will continue to offer activities including physical exercise, crafts, talks on health and public services, as well as cultural outings.

Sessions organised by the University of the Third Age will also take place every Friday. Those who do not attend these sessions will still be able to use the centre as usual.

Chief Executive of Active Ageing and Community Care Steve Agius said the extension followed feedback from elderly people who use the centre, adding that services should be developed by listening to the needs of the people they serve.

The public can obtain further information about Active Ageing Centres and other services by contacting the Servizz Anzjan Centre on 2278 8900, visiting aacc.gov.mt or calling freephone 153, extension 12.
