Former Nationalist Party MP, doctor and entrepreneur Frank Portelli, who spent several years working in the healthcare sector, has died at the age of 82.

Portelli served as a Member of Parliament between 1987 and 1992.

He also served as President of the Nationalist Party's Executive Committee between 1985 and 1992.

Between 1995 and 1998, he held the position of President of the PN's General Council.

Portelli also contested the PN leadership election in 2017.

He also spent a period managing St Philip's Hospital in Santa Venera.
