A total of 45,551 people in Malta are living with diabetes, Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Ian Borg has confirmed in a parliamentary reply.
Borg provided the figure in response to Parliamentary Question 3952, tabled by Nationalist Party MP Ian Vassallo on October 21, 2026.
Asked how many people in Malta were living with the condition, Borg said he was informed that 45,551 people had diabetes.
The reply did not include a breakdown by age or type of diabetes, nor did it provide figures on new diagnoses.
